She holds a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Minnesota, a Certificate of Theological Studies from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California, and a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in Minnesota.

Ordained in the United Church of Christ, she lives in St. Paul with her husband.
